2026 Waverley Garden & Floral Art FESTIVAL

 

 

Our Fabulous festival is over for 2026,  but we will be back again for more on the last weekend in August 2027!

 

Details for this year's were:Saturday 29 August 2026, 1 - 5pm & Sunday 30 August 2026, 11am - 4pm

Come and hear from a range of experts who will present and demonstrate on a range of topics

SATURDAY 29 AUGUST
2pm

Growing Bromeliads 101
With so many different colours and textures to choose from, there’s bound to be a bromeliad that suits your garden style and garden. Rob will share some information about bromeliads, plus tips to grow them and keep them looking healthy.
3.30pm

Getting the Best out of Seed Germination  
It’s easy to pick up a punnet of seedlings at the nursery, but it’s so much cheaper and more rewarding to grow your own from seed. 
Russell will share his tips on the seed lifecycle and what’s required to guarantee germination. 
SUNDAY 30 AUGUST
12noon

The Art of Bonsai 
An ancient art form, Bruce will share the history of bonsai and examples of the different styles. Plus plenty of tips for everyone – from beginners wanting to create their first tree, to the experienced bonsai grower looking to expand their skills.
1.30pm Orchid basics – Cymbidiums and Phalaenopsis 
These two species of orchids grow well in Melbourne, and it’s easy to encourage them to flower prolifically.  Bryan will share his expertise about caring for these types of orchids.  
2.30pm Cooking with weeds
Some of the weeds growing in your garden are not only edible, but delicious and nutritious. Norbert will share how to identify the good from the bad, plus demonstrate an easy recipe everyone can make at home. There’ll be taste testing for everyone!

Produce, Plants and Book Stalls

Not only are our members enthusiastic gardeners - they can also propagate, cook and preserve. These stalls are a chance for visitors to purchase top quality produce and plants.  A used book stall provides a chance to re-home much loved tomes.
